Phoenix Mars Lander Camera Sends First Image Back to Earth

The University of Arizona-led Phoenix Mars Lander took its first picture and sent it back to Earth on Sept. 6. The Phoenix lander’s has a camera Arm and has a protective biobarrier that make sure no Earth organisms are carried to Mars. The picture itself is a nice clear picture with good focus. These are the only pictures that will be taken until the lander reaches Mars on May 25, 2008. What does this mean for us? Hopefully it will have a successful mission so that we can better understand mars. Our culture could really learn some useful information from this lander.
