Rhode Island Currently Home to 3D Mars Exhibit

Since September 12 of this year, Providence's Museum of Natural History has been displaying an exhibit entitled "A New Perspective on Mars." Using 3D glasses, visitors can gain a better understanding of Martian terrain through special photographic technology developed by the German Aerospace Center. With the photos taken during the first European mission to Mars, which was performed by the European Space Agency, the surface of Mars can be better understood due to the 3D images produced from the photographs. The particular mission that made the exhibit possible was launched in 2003, and the photos of Mars were taken from 2004 to 2006. The pictures were taken by a high resolution stereo camera.
